Garage Door Remote Battery Guide
Garage door remote stopped working, or the range has dropped? Nine times out of ten it just needs a new battery. Use the chart below to find the right battery for your remote, or check the battery inside your old handset.
How to check which battery your remote takes
- Open the back of your remote. Most slide or pop open, and some have a small screw.
- Read the code printed on the old battery, for example CR2032 or CR2025.
- Order a battery with exactly the same code.
Coin cell batteries all look alike but are different thicknesses. The last two numbers are the thickness: a CR2016 is 1.6mm, a CR2025 is 2.5mm and a CR2032 is 3.2mm. All three are 20mm wide, but they are not interchangeable.
