Gliderol Garage Door Remote Compatibility

Are Gliderol Garage Door Remotes Universal?

Gliderol garage door remotes are not interchangeable with universal or other-brand remotes. Gliderol motors require a genuine Gliderol handset. This guide explains the Gliderol remote system, how to confirm compatibility and what to do if your original handset is lost or no longer available

The Gliderol remote system

Gliderol motorised roller doors use a proprietary radio system. The Gliderol button remote is a single-channel handset designed to pair only with Gliderol motor units. Universal garage door remotes from other manufacturers are not compatible and will not pair with a Gliderol motor regardless of how they are programmed.

Identifying a genuine Gliderol remote

The genuine Gliderol handset is a compact single-button remote, typically with Gliderol branding on the face or rear of the unit. It is the only remote type that will pair with a Gliderol roller door motor. When ordering a replacement, confirm the remote is specifically listed as compatible with Gliderol roller door motors rather than a generic roller shutter remote.

Can I add a second Gliderol remote?

Yes. Most Gliderol motor units can store multiple handsets. Once one remote is paired, additional remotes can be paired using the same programming process. The motor unit will accept each new remote in sequence during programming mode. The number of remotes that can be stored varies by motor model but is typically between 10 and 20 handsets.

What if my original Gliderol remote is lost?

A replacement Gliderol button remote can be paired to the existing motor unit using the standard programming procedure. No special tools are required. The programming button is located on the motor unit, usually accessible from inside the garage. See the reprogramming guide in this hub for the full procedure.

Always buy a Gliderol-specific handset. Generic roller shutter remotes may appear similar but operate on different frequencies and use different coding systems. They will not pair with a Gliderol motor. Northwest Garage Door Spares stocks genuine Gliderol button remotes with fast UK delivery.
If your motor unit is very old and no longer responds to any remote, the motor receiver may have failed. In this case, replacement of the motor unit or receiver module may be needed rather than a new handset. Contact Northwest Garage Door Spares on 01942380256 for advice before ordering.
