Gliderol Garage Door Remote Reprogramming

How Do I Reprogram a Gliderol Garage Door Remote?

Pairing a new or replacement Gliderol remote to the motor takes under 60 seconds and requires no tools. This guide covers the full programming sequence for Gliderol roller door motors, how to add additional remotes and what to do if the motor does not respond during programming

Before you start

Confirm you have a genuine Gliderol button remote. Generic or universal remotes will not pair with a Gliderol motor regardless of the programming sequence used. If you are replacing a lost remote, a new genuine Gliderol handset is required before programming can begin.

Programming a Gliderol remote to the motor

  1. Access the motor unit. On most Gliderol installations the motor sits in the drum housing above the door opening, accessible from inside the garage. Some models have the motor unit at the side of the door guide rail.
  2. Locate the programming (learn) button on the motor. It is typically a small recessed button on the motor casing, sometimes marked "Learn", "P" or with a key symbol. Refer to your motor manual if you cannot locate it.
  3. Press and hold the programming button until the motor indicator light flashes or you hear a single click from the motor. Release the button. The motor is now in programming mode for approximately 10 to 30 seconds depending on the model.
  4. Within the programming window, press and hold the button on the Gliderol handset you wish to pair. Hold until the motor light flashes again or you hear two clicks, confirming the code has been stored.
  5. Test the remote by pressing the button. The motor should operate the door immediately.

Adding a second remote

To add an additional Gliderol handset without deleting the existing remote, repeat the programming sequence above. Enter programming mode on the motor, then present the new handset. The motor stores the new code alongside the existing ones. Repeat for each additional handset to be added.

Deleting all stored remotes

If a Gliderol remote has been lost, all stored codes should be deleted from the motor and all remotes reprogrammed from scratch to prevent the lost handset from operating the door. The delete procedure varies by Gliderol motor model. On most models it involves holding the programming button for a longer period (typically 10 seconds or more) until the motor light flashes rapidly. Replace the battery before attempting reprogramming. A flat or weak battery is the most common reason a Gliderol remote stops working. Replace the battery first and test the remote before going through the full programming procedure. A new battery costs pennies; reprogramming is unnecessary if the battery was the issue.
