Cardale Garage Door Remote Reprogramming

How Do I Reprogram a Cardale Garage Door Remote?

Programming a replacement Cardale remote takes under 60 seconds on both the DC Series motorised up-and-over and the Thermoglide PDT Rolltec system. This guide covers the full programming sequence for both Cardale motor systems and what to do if programming fails

Before you start: identify your Cardale motor system

Cardale operate two distinct motor systems. Confirm which you have before programming:

  • DC Series (DC650T operator): Motorised CD45 or similar up-and-over door. Uses the Cardale DC Series 4-channel remote handset.
  • PDT Rolltec (Thermoglide): Insulated roller door. Uses the Cardale PDT Rolltec remote handset. Different programming sequence from the DC Series.

Programming a DC Series remote to the DC650T motor

  1. Locate the programming button on the DC650T operator unit. It is typically on the underside or rear of the motor head, accessible from inside the garage.
  2. Press and hold the programming button until the motor indicator light flashes or an audible tone confirms programming mode has been entered. Release the button.
  3. Within approximately 10 seconds, press and hold the button on the DC Series handset you wish to pair. Hold until the motor confirms the code has been stored with a light flash or double beep.
  4. Test the remote by pressing the programmed button. The motor should respond immediately.

Programming a PDT Rolltec remote to the Thermoglide motor

  1. Access the Thermoglide motor unit in the drum housing above the door opening.
  2. Locate the programming button on the motor. Press and hold until the motor enters programming mode.
  3. Press the button on the PDT Rolltec handset to be paired. Hold until the motor confirms the code.
  4. Test the remote before closing the door.

Adding additional remotes

Both Cardale motor systems support multiple handsets. To add a second remote without deleting existing ones, simply repeat the programming process: enter programming mode on the motor and present the new handset. The motor stores the new code alongside existing ones. Repeat for each additional handset to be added.

Replace the battery before attempting reprogramming. A weak battery is the most common reason a Cardale remote stops working. A new battery costs under a pound. Replace it first and test the remote before going through the full programming procedure. If reprogramming still fails after a battery change, the handset itself may need replacing.
