Garador Garage Door Remote Compatibility

Are Garador Garage Door Remotes Universal?

Garador garage door remotes are not universal between frequency systems. Current Garador GaroMatic and EuroPro motors use the Hormann BiSecur 868MHz system, making BiSecur handsets the correct choice for most current doors. This guide explains the Garador remote system and how to identify which handset your door needs

Garador and Hormann: the shared remote system

Garador and Hormann are sister brands under the same parent company. Current Garador GaroMatic Series 3 and 4 and EuroPro operators use the same BiSecur radio system as Hormann SupraMatic and ProMatic motors. This means a Hormann BiSecur handset (black case, black buttons, 868MHz) will pair with a current Garador motor and vice versa.

Garador remote system generations

Motor model Frequency Remote appearance Notes
GaroMatic Series 4 / EuroPro current 868MHz BiSecur Black case, black buttons Current standard. Any Hormann or Garador BiSecur handset will pair.
GaroMatic Series 3 868MHz BiSecur Black case, black buttons BiSecur introduced from around 2013. Compatible with Series 4 handsets.
GaroMatic Series 2 / older EuroPro 868MHz (non-BiSecur) Grey case, blue buttons Non-BiSecur 868MHz. Compatible handsets still available but not interchangeable with BiSecur units.
Older GaroMatic 40.685MHz Grey case, grey buttons Older system. Replacement 40MHz handsets have limited availability. Universal receiver upgrade recommended.
EuroPro (older) 433.92MHz Various 433MHz rolling code. Replacement handsets available. Not compatible with 868MHz BiSecur system.

What to do if your Garador remote is no longer available

For older 40MHz Garador systems, original handsets are no longer in production. The most practical solution is a universal receiver upgrade kit that replaces the motor's radio receiver with a module accepting a modern 868MHz handset. For 433MHz EuroPro systems, compatible Garador and Liftronic handsets are still available from Northwest Garage Door Spares.

Check the motor unit label before ordering any remote. The motor casing label shows the model name and series number. GaroMatic Series 3 and 4 and current EuroPro motors accept BiSecur handsets. Older series require a different handset or a receiver upgrade. Call Northwest Garage Door Spares on 01942380256 to confirm compatibility.
